Feston Collection
The Feston Collection is a collaboration between Vertone and Matamata-based studio potter Larissa Goodwin-Wylie of Goodwin Ceramics. Each piece is handcrafted, with a signature notched rim detail inspired by the feston — a motif rooted in classical architecture and decorative arts. Here, that reference is reinterpreted in stoneware: soft, fluid indentations that curve gently downward around the rim, quietly sculptural in their simplicity. Made using wheel-throwing and hand-building techniques, each piece is crafted in a dark red-brown clay and finished with a custom glaze developed in Larissa's studio. The palette nods to mid-century design, where sage and buttery tones were paired with the rich warmth of terracotta and clay. The glaze breaks naturally at the edges, revealing the deep red-brown of the clay beneath, and subtle variations are embraced rather than concealed, giving each piece its own distinct character.
